Effects of Succinic Acid 2,2- Dimethylhydrazide Applications on Field - Grown Radish and Chiness Cabbage

Abstract
Growth of two Korean radish varieties and one Chinese cabbage in the experimental field was determined after foliar application of varied levels of succinic acid 2,2-dimethy-lhydrazide (B-9 or Alar) was practiced. The varieties tested were Seoul Bommu, Simu radish and Chunpa-Kukjoseng Chinese cabbage.
B-9 treatments resulted in shortening plant height (leaf length) for both radish and Chinese cabbage and more so at the higher levels used. The shortening height did not necessarily have influence on plant weight differences including either top, root or total plant weight. B-9 applications, however, particularly at the highest level applied, has shown to delay bolting in all plants.
